Whiteville Athletic Director David Smith has released the schedule of Whiteville High athletic events for the week of October 17-21. Three Rivers Conference athletic directors hope to meet Monday or Tuesday to make decisions on making up postponed events. Robeson County Schools will not resume classes until Thursday at the earliest.
Whiteville will travel to South Columbus for junior varsity and varsity volleyball matches, Tuesday, October 18. The JV match begins at 4:30. South Columbus will celebrate “Senior Night” prior to the varsity match.
The TRC 1A girls tennis singles and doubles tournament will be held Tuesday, October 18 at West Columbus. The tournament determines the one singles player and one doubles team that qualifies for regional play beginning Friday, October 21 in Greenville.
Wednesday, October 19 will have Whiteville boys soccer hosting East Columbus at 6 p.m. The Wolfpack will recognize their senior players prior to the match.
Whiteville volleyball will host East Columbus in jayvee and varsity volleyball beginning at 4:30 p.m. This is the make up of a match postponed from October 11. A Whiteville win would clinch the top 1A volleyball playoff seed from the TRC.
The Three Rivers Cross Country championship is also scheduled for Wednesday in Lumberton. It remains to be seen if this can take place as scheduled.
Whiteville is supposed to travel to East Columbus Friday for varsity football. This is listed as “subject to change.” Decisions made earlier in the week concerning make ups of last Friday’s games could affect the October 21st schedule.

On a related note, Mr. Jeff Spivey, Williams Township principal and president of the Columbus County Middle School league, says principals will make decisions on schedules when all schools resume in Columbus County. Four middle school football games are scheduled for Tuesday and the Nakina Preseason Volleyball Tournament was slated to begin Monday, October 17.
